Yes! You should add me :D. This is my accountI read the first part of the LotR trilogy & The Hobbit, but I only liked The Hobbit. I'm always happy to find people who know & love Diana Wynne Jones though : D. I think I'll read A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones someday but it might take a while, I don't feel like starting on such a huge series at the moment ^^;. I added you too :D Froufox told me to make an account and she's right, it's not like I'm keeping track of the books I want to read on my own. Plus I might be getting a Kindle for Christmas so that should improve my book acquiring as well. I was never able to get into the Lotr books but I'm excited to start the Hobbit, I've heard a lot of good things about it. I feel Game of Thrones is either going to grab you or not, the first time I read it (when I was 15 or so) I loved the bleeps out of it, but I reread them in anticipation of the series and it dragged a little for me then.

I have the first one listed here, the $79 version with ads ooh, I've always wanted to read Tender is the Night because I loved The Great Gatsby - it's one of my favorite books - so I'll grab that, thank you! (granted I have no idea when I'll get to it since my to-read list includes all of ASoIaF and then Les Mis... maybe I should starting reading lighter things between those, haha) and I'm definitely going to go through that list you linked, too; there's a bunch I don't recognize, actually *3*

I have that one too now, it's not old at all! But I do have the one without ads so maybe the ads would block part of the layout or make it shrink to an unreadable size yeah idk I hope not! ;_;

maybe I just had bad luck when I tried to put a PDF on..? I'll try again XD;
the ads aren't on the actual reading pages, they show up when you turn the screen off, thankfully!

Oh luckily! The ad supported one wasn't available internationally but if it was and if I had known they appear only when you turn it off I would've definitely gotten that one because the new kindle screensavers def. aren't much to look at T-T.
Oh yes, I once had a pdf that just showed up blank? I guess the size was maybe too heavy? idk but def. try again yes!
Also! What do you love about Fitzgerald? So many people love him but the two books I've read by him (The great Gatsby & Tender is the Night) left me completely indifferent so I wanna know why people love him. Idk though maybe it was my mood or my general attitude to straight men that made me not enjoy it as much though XD

A lot of it is his writing style! It's really immersive, I think, and I love the mood it gets me in if that makes sense? As far as Gatsby specifically, though, I love stories about despicable/corrupted people, and the fashion/aesthetic of that kind of... cultural indulgence driving itself into the ground? I love the 20s as a kind of hedonistic enjoy-yourself-before-everything-collapses kind of idea, and the narrative of Gatsby plays into that doomed excess really well.

Oh that makes perfect sense I always feel that way when reading a good book! ^o^ I guess I'm more of a fan of more poetic writing styles though I do love decadence! With The Great Gatsby I felt the writing was a bit distant which was probably the exact thing Fitzgerald wanted to do but still it just didn't get me.
