Ok, am I crazy or something?
When I throw 5 identical shells in the spring... I ALWAYS end up with a wallpaper? I am really serious... O.o
Am I the only one?

I try not to throw in identical shells, so I've never noticed, but I'll try that out for a few days and see what happens!
(As for me, with 2/3 shell types as I usually do, I keep.. getting that cat-eared hat... I don't mind because I can sell it for around 100r each time but I've seriously gotten like twelve of them)

Well, maybe the shell spring isn't that random and we can find some "patterns" to avoid getting items we don't want... if 5 identical shells always give a wallpaper, then it's good to know I guess =/

Yeah, 5 identical shells always give a wallpaper :) It's good to know around Tanabata if you actually aim to get one xD Other than that I think it's pretty random. I've heard though there's a higher chance to get something good if you always hit the renew button after you get an item, but I don't think it's a rule.

Huh! that's good to know, is it usually the cheap, plain wallpapers though? do you have any chance of getting something nice?
also what I've heard is that you get better items if you only throw in shells when there's a piyo there
