Let's talk education! (๑´∀`๑)
I graduated high school in May of last year. I skipped 7th grade and went onto 8th, which is why I was able to graduate a year earlier than if I had gone through 7th.
I've been homeschooled since kindergarten, I've never been to public school. I had really bad asthma as a kid, so my mom knew if I had gone to public school, I would've been sick most of the school year. I don't think I missed out on anything, though. :3
I've slowly been reading an ACT prep book. I've been eyeing an RIM, and hoping that when I take the actual test, my score will be high enough to get into the school I'm looking at. I worry about the tuition, because where I live, it goes up a few times every year. \(´◓Д◔`)/ But my parents have already told me if I really want to go, I should go. Even if there will be lots of debt, lol. ಥ_ಥ
Ah, this is really long, I think I should end this now, so~
If anyone is in college, what's your major? If anyone has already graduated college, what did you study? (´・ω・`) If anyone is in high school, what are your plans once you graduate?

I'm a college junior! European Studies major, Art History minor. My focus is, like, the late 18th century to the present, especially in Russia.

Well. I finished High School back in 2010. Then I went to Community College and spent 2 and a half years there. Last semester was my last one. I am going to try and apply to a different college for this fall. My major is Psychology because I want to be a therapist.

qichi, Odi: Those sound like very interesting majors. :3 Reimu: That must be an awesome job. *___* And the ACT is a test for high school achievement and college admissions. There's four multiple choice tests, and one optional writing test. Each of the main four are scored individually, and then there's a composite score, which is the average of the four. There's also the SAT, but the scoring is different, and I've heard the ACT is easier. ^___^;

i graduated from university a year and a half ago in graphic design & illustration :3 i'm currently an intern at a gifts & stationery company! high school seems so long ago now ;_;
i find the american college system really interesting - major and minor degrees aren't really that common here. my course was unusual as it's a mixed course, but people usually tend to study just one thing by the time they reach university which i think sounds intimidating - i want to learn everything!

Oh wow, Reimu, that's so cool! I never wanted to study animation or game design but secretly I would love to work for Nintendo *__*. They need translators sometimes but I would have to move to Germany D:. Anyway, I'm currently getting my master's degree in English. My minor is Dutch ^^. If everything goes right I will finally graduate this summer *__*. I feel like I've been at uni forever eurgh. It took me longer than most students partly because during high school I was at art school rather than a general education school so I never got used to studying (also I am really lazy). I'm not looking forward to job-searching but I am looking forward to working .

I've tried Art History for a year and found it too dull, then I tried Illustration and found it too stifling after four years and I realised my personality and whichever really falls out of our educational system partly because I'm neurotic partly because the school system is old fashioned and weirdly arbitrary. Either way, either how, if I'd gotten a degree it'd be useless so after doing nothing for almost a year I am pretty excited to start library school soon because it's something useful and I've seen a lot of job ads for it. I really want to work and earn some money gahhh and the job market is so hard and I'm too neurotic for most jobs :D. And besides this, I've also been going to a shoe design class every week because I really wanted to create an actual useful object with my hands and learn a trade, if that makes sense? I'm loving it so far though it's hard and I'm terrible at it. This week I'll finally start making a pair of oxford shoes omggggg I hope they turn out okay so I can actually wear them *_*.
Anyway, though most of my school life has turned out a failure on paper but I'd say go with your gut feeling and try not to think about money etc. (I know it's so hard D;). You'll always end up learning something valuable even if it's just the realisation that school does you no good but dulls your senses and intellect. And never NEVERRR doubt quitting if you feel terrible about your studies!! You'll end up wasting time and money THOUGH THAT'S OKAY TOO. Just do what you love because otherwise you'll hate yourself and the world and that's worth nothing :D

My course was unusual as it's a mixed course, but people usually tend to study just one thing by the time they reach university which i think sounds intimidating - i want to learn everything! I too want to learn everything, but I can understand why people usually stick to learning one thing when they reach university. I mainly took Psych classes, but would have loved to take other classes that had nothing to do with my major. Unfortunately college is hella expensive and I feel like that it makes it almost impossible to study other things beside what you are going to major in.I'm not looking forward to job-searching but I am looking forward to working . Ditto. I mean, I am trying to find a job right now, any old job just to have money, and I cannot even do it. Thinking about having to find a job for after I get my degree is super stressful to me.Anyway, though most of my school life has turned out a failure on paper but I'd say go with your gut feeling and try not to think about money etc. (I know it's so hard D;). Just do what you love because otherwise you'll hate yourself and the world and that's worth nothing Honestly, none of my parents or step-parents went to college and they all have bad jobs or cannot find anything new. Everything requires degrees of some sort so I do not feel I could just leave college and make it. Also I am always being pressured by family. I have only been out of Community College for a month now and all everyone talks to me about is whether I have applied to a new college yet and how if I do not I will just be some poor maid living on the street. /sigh

My parents didn't finish college and my mother is very very unhappy because she's been too afraid to really go for what she loves doing most but my father has had so many jobs and he's always pursuing his dreams and though it stresses him out at times I know he loves what he's doing . It's true that it's much much harder to make "it" without a degree but that's why you have to really ask yourself what this "it" is and if it's worth ir for you. College brought me several bouts of depression because my personality really just doesn't mix with school so in the end all that anxiety etc. is really really not worth it because I don't know what this "it" is for me yet but I'm sure I have enough courage to find that out for myself, without societal pressures and go for it regardless! And I just want to give everyone that courage to smash the societal pressures we feel and find out for ourselves what "making it" is. For me, I just want a quiet life and enjoy the supposed small pleasures in life (for me they're big pleasures!).

froufox, nessquick: I find it very admirable that you both want to enjoy the simple things in life! I wish I could be that comfortable with things like that one day. ;-;
My parents both went to college. They both worked a bunch of jobs once they were out of college. They had their own business, but then it went belly-up. Dad was working at a fossil fuel plant until he got a brain injury. Neither one of them has a job now, and it's very difficult to get one here. However, my mom is planning on going back to school to get her cosmetology license for the state. She has a dream of owning her own nail salon, which I think is very cool. :')
