i found an old lj thread from browsing through the community which i really liked the idea of and wanted to share here! the concept is how different do you dress in real life, compared to how you dress your poupee? i had some fun trying to recreate a real-life me so thought maybe you guys would like to join in! real life ~ poupee lifein real life i'm typically into some vintage bits, mixed with comfy and casual styles, where i wear a lot of natural colours and reds, but i don't go too wild and leave my hair the unruly mess it is! i started my poupee with the angle of trying to reflect my real-life dress ups, but now she's definitely heading into mori territory which i'd love to embrace more of myself (perhaps in the warmer months...) ^^ how about you guys? are you completely different and enjoy dressing up differently or are you pretty faithful to your personal style?

This is such an awesome idea! My Winston gets to dress in stuff I can't wear because of practical reasons but I would wear everything she wears in a heartbeat *-* My real life style is usually plain with accessories that make me happy

My real life style is very very similar to my poupée but Frou Fox gets to wear expensive stuff like lolita & gets to experiment with random hip styles which I can't wear/invest in because of lack of money . In fact my real life style is so similar (pupe has totally influenced my style though!) I once tried to make a livejournal community in which we tried to dress up as our poupées? :'D (it never really took off hahaaa)

My style IRL is pretty casual. I'm usually satisfied with just throwing on some jeans and a t-shirt, lol. I don't really dress very fancily or have make-up unless there's a special occasion or something. I also like wearing nice, bright colors. My poupee wears bright colors, too, but I think she coordinates better than I do. That and she wears fancier items and make-up.

I AM FIVE FEET TALL AND 180 POUNDS AND I WEAR TSHIRTS (COVERED IN HOODIES IN WINTER) AND JEANS AND SNEAKERS AND I AM NEARSIGHTED this is why i'm so invested in internet fashion websites: because i'm too cheap/self-conscious to actually do any of it irl and then on poupee i think i vary p. consistently between these three? (i'm gonna go ahead and just shuffle mori/lolita/rococo-inspired kinda stuff under that there middle thing)

Such an interesting topic! IRL, I have many different styles, so it's a bit hard to show, but here's something I could wear, which remings me that my leopard shirt really needs some love... And on Poupée, well I have many different styles as well, but almost always with a lolita touch, as it was my past style and I often miss it...

Sometimes bows, Hello Kitty or dessert rings, flowers in my hair, stuff like that. I kept what I was considering acceptable to wear at the office. I still have some dresses and complete outfits that I feel too hard to sell right now.

My real life is fairly simple. If I'm doing something, I dress like the left. If not, I'm usually just in jeans and a top. My doll is pretty much how I would dress if there was nothing holding me back from wearing any extravagant thing I wanted. I do often wear my hair braided to the side like that wig.

This is basically my regular style. I am usually too lazy/tired in the morning to put on make-up or do much more then brush my hair. It is wavy and annoying. Anyways, jeans and either sweaters or t-shirts is what I wear. I have a heart ring I always wear, and a bunch of earrings that I love to wear. Though I just use simple pearls when in a hurry. I have a purse sort of like that, but in all black that I use alot. I have two other more fun purses that I use as well. I actually own boots like that, but most of the time I wear sneakers, I did not have any sneakers for my Poupee.
These are some of my Poupee styles. I like to wear dresses and skirts and mix and match stuff to see how they look. Basically it is more fun and how I wish I could dress sometimes. But things like money and my self-esteem come into play. I actually have nicer clothes and dresses, but always feel weird wearing them, because like qichi, I am like 5'1" and 150 lbs and so tend more towards my jeans, shirts, and hoodies. So poupee lets me dress how I wish I could.

it's really interesting to see everyone's tastes - how they would dress if they had more confidence & money. i definitely feel like poupee's affecting my dress sense, how i shouldn't be so lazy and try and wear something a bit more exciting...

I did a couple of real live dressups this week, the top 4 are like outfits I wear now. the first one is a in the house outfit only though the bottom 3 are outfits that I would love to have, but can't afford at the moment. the ball gown might seems strange, but I have the idea for a victorian ball gown in my head for a while now, I even have the sewing patterns, but I calculated the fabric I want and the amount would end up to 250 euro's easily. and that does not include accessories like the corset, petticoats, crinoline and underwear. so that makes it a long term project. oh, and my hair is not naturally pink of course xD it is brownish, but the hairstyle is quite similar.

This was actually tricky! But I love the idea of it, it really gives you something to think about; why am I not dressing the way I want? I am happily surprised that many of you are as lazy as I am concidering make up and clothings haha ^^ I am very bad at putting make up on so putting on foundation is as far as I go! I did two dressup for my real life, one indoor and one outdoor as some of you have said, I am to very self conscious about my appearence hence I use alot of big sized hoodies and t shirts. I have almost the exact jeans, boots and jacket in real life as I have in the picture though I have patched up the jeans because it feels like my legs are coming out of the holes when I move. And this is 3 outfits of my poupee which I particularly like. I think there is some resemblance though my poupees outfits are a bit more fierce compared to my everyday style. To do a real life dressup for a week, like ishje said, sounds like a really good idea!
